Victoria University of Wellington, Te Aro, Wellington, NZ

Wakefield Community Hall, Wakefield, Tasman, NZ

In 2015 the rural community of Wakefield, Tasman, worked in collaboration with landscape architecture students of VUW, hoping to explore new long term planning options for the future of their local township and surrounding neighborhoods. The work conducted in collaboration with the residents was displayed at the Te Aro Campus at the end of that year. A second exhibition was held by the community of Wakefield in their town at the start of Summer. where local residents would view and vote on favorite designs as part of an informal petition to the regional council.

Horowhenua Sealevel Rise Response Exhibition 2016

Victoria University of Wellington, Te Aro, Wellington, NZ

Hosted by Victoria University’s School of Architecture and Design, the Horowhenua Sealevel rise response exhibition (also Tahamata Farms Sealevel Expo, 2016), was a showcase of selected works conducted by graduate students over the Autumn-Fall trimester. The displays were part of a platform to explore the possibilities of dealing with the future of inhabited coastal lines, particularly in rural environments that are often neglected. The exhibition hoped to raise awareness of the challenges that climate change would bring to rural townships and countryside. It mainly focused on a series of properties within the Tahamata Farm Block, with extensions along other agrarian shores of NZ’s lower North Island.

The expo included large collaborations with the local iwi (tribe) across the Kapiti Coast. The exhibition used the inhabiting indigenous communities’ cultural prominence as an influencing factor for outcomes of the projects on display.

Master's Thesis Exhibition 2017

Victoria University of Wellington, Te Aro, Wellington, NZ

New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects, Annual General Meeting, Wellington, NZ

Part of the end of year experience for 5th year students completing their final thesis and research portfolios was an exhibition of our works hosted by the School of Architecture and Design. This exhibition showcased works of all students completing their investigations and finalized design outcomes. The projects were on public display throughout the end of Spring and into the Summer trimester. The exhibition explored a large variety of topics of research from urban regeneration to biophilic design.

In late 2017, VUW hosted the Annual General Meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects. A selected number of works from 5th year students were presented and exhibited to the attending members during that meeting.
